A Room for Jesus
          (A special Christmas story)

We all know the story of the birth of Jesus.  In a dusty old manger, the new-born King spent His first hours because there was no room for His family at the inn.  I recently heard the story of a young school boy in Michigan who provided his teacher with an amusing response to her narrative of the birth of Jesus.  After hearing of Joseph and Mary's inability to secure a room at the inn for the birth of Jesus, the young boy replied, "I'll bet they found Him one real fast when they found out who He was!"  But, the comedy of his response rings forth a sadly disparaging parody to the mood of today's generation.  More and more, people still leave no room for Jesus.
But, on this day, the twenty-fifth of December, people all over the world will reflect on the birth of Jesus.  If only but for a mere day, the door to the room in the hearts of millions will be open to the Savior.  Perhaps like no other day of the year, His name will be spoken with praise and glory in commemoration of His miraculous birth,  Still, so many must ask the question, "But is December 25 the actual birth date of Jesus?"  I must say, I don't know.  But, this I do know.  Jesus was born into this world of a virgin, and with that birth, God's wonderful plan of grace for the world was set into motion.  And that is an event truly worth celebrating - today, tomorrow, and every day of the year!
So, who am I to question someone's celebration today? "One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike.  Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.  He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord" (Romans 14:5,6).  Who am I to deny Jesus His room?
Don't forget to leave a room open for Jesus in your life - today, tomorrow, and every day of the year.

              Merry Christmas!
