Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. Before
he scattered the seed he
decided to determine which types of soil would
be the most likely to produce
good crops. So he took samples of all of
the different types of soil and sent
them off to the University to be tested.
A while later he received the
results and sat down and read through all of the
results and all of the pamphlets that were sent with the results. He then
enrolled in a seminar to prepare him to sow effectively. Although
he was now very well equipped to sow, he decided that he should read a
couple of the newest books on sowing.
He attended a seminar on "Motivating yourself to
sow" which he really
enjoyed. Every day during all of his preparation
he would walk out into his
field and think about sowing. He would run
his hands through the seed and a couple of times he would almost drop a
seed but then he would become self-conscious and have a feeling of inadequacy
so he would put the seeds back in his bag. Before he knew it the
weather changed and he lost his opportunity to grow anything for another
year. What the farmer failed to realize was that his contribution to the
process of growth was simply to sow the seed. He was so afraid of
failure that he lost his opportunity to sow which resulted in no harvest
at all.
